Christian Yip

Christian Yip is a veteran hockey linesman known for his sharp eye, calm presence, and consistent control of fast-paced BCHL and junior-level games. Born and raised in British Columbia, he developed a passion for hockey early on, transitioning from minor hockey player to officiating in his late teens after realizing his strengths were in game management rather than scoring goals. Over the years, Yip has built a reputation as one of the most reliable officials on the ice, respected by both players and coaches for his fairness and professionalism. He’s particularly known for his quick decision-making on icing and offside calls, as well as his ability to defuse tense situations before they escalate. Off the ice, he mentors new officials entering the league and is involved in local referee development programs across the Lower Mainland. When he’s not at the rink, he enjoys skating, training, and following NHL analytics trends to stay sharp with modern rule interpretations.
